Hello from Highwater

Once upon a time I needed to work as a contractor as the company didn't hire employees. Early stage accounting shenanigans I am sure.

So I needed to incorporate.

A numbered corp would have worked, or I could have named it after myself directly. Where's the fun in that though?

I spun around with various names and things I liked. Bikes, code, mountains, lakes. I thought about the people in my life and tried to link everything up in various ways.

The letters H and W were important at that point for reasons that you can probably figure out without too much effort. We sat around for a bit and one of us said, "highwater".

It's a nice compound word with lots of meanings in different vectors. You can look at the initials if you camel case it. The highwater mark is how high the water could go. I grew up near the ocean so this meant something.

So there it was, a name.

Since it was used entirely to do private consulting as a single developer, no one ever really saw it. I find myself at the point where I have some small projects which I should make public in some way.

It's over ten years old now, so I guess it's time to leave stealth mode.
